Civic Mornings – Community Engagement!

April 13, 2018 @ 8:30 am - 10:30 am

Now is the time for civic innovators to come together and paint a new picture of the public sector.

Join CivicMakers for Civic Mornings, a gathering of the civic tribe in the Bay Area and beyond, at Impact Hub San Francisco. Over breakfast, you’ll meet your peers and fellow changemakers, and exchange ideas and inspiration across sectors and silos. You’ll also hear what’s new in the civic innovation space from a rotating panel of experts, as well as other attendees working during the One Minute Idea Exchange.

For our April Civic Mornings, we are pleased to welcome Shari Davis, Co-Executive Director from the Participatory Budgeting Project (PBP). PBP is a nonprofit organization that provides support to local governments, public schools, and other public agencies and community groups to empower people to decide together how to spend public money.

Shari Davis led the country’s first youth focused Participatory Budgeting (PB) effort in Boston, which invited 12-25 year-olds to decided how to spend $1M of the City’s capital budget and has been involved with PB ever since. PB is one of the most deeply enpowered forms of public participation and offers true community ownership. In Shari’s words:”PB is a tool that authentically and deeply engages community members to make real decisions.”

If you are looking to engage with a community of civic professionals thinking big and making real change, look no further. We can’t wait to meet you and hear about your work.
