Introduction to Human-Centered Design in the Public Sector

May 14 @ 8:30 am - 12:30 pm

Learn and practice all five phases of the Human-Centered Design process within the context of public sector service delivery!

For the past several years, CivicMakers has been sharing our approach to integrating Human-Centered Design across various disciplines and contexts through in-person training and workshops.

We are adapting this training to be done virtually and we’d like to invite you to participate in our prototype!

Here’s what we’ll cover, in two four-hour sessions over two days:

Day 1: Theory

  • Intro to HCD in the public sector
  • Defining Challenges
  • Listening Empathically*
  • Identifying Stakeholders
  • Conducting Interviews
  • Ideating, Prototyping & Testing

Day 2: Practice

  • HCD Process
  • Prototype Sharing
  • Group Reflection
  • Feedback

We are asking that you commit to attending the whole session (Thurs 5/14 and Fri 5/15 from 8:30am – 12:30pm) and come prepared to share a current challenge you’re experiencing.

This training is valued at $400/person but we are simply requesting your participation and feedback!

*Please note this session requires high levels of engagement and interaction. We ask that you have your video on and can participate actively. We realize everyone has unique constraints at this time, so will make every reasonable accommodation necessary during the session.
