Introducing Public Impact Design, an innovative framework to help you create engaging methods for working with your constituents.
Serving the public requires passion, patience, creativity and grit. It’s not easy, but it can be rewarding. When programs and products are designed with community input and actually work well for those they are intended to serve, public servants and nonprofit professionals like you can revel in seeing the immediate impact of your work.
Drawing from our experience on the front lines of civic innovation with communities across California, we’re excited to offer a new training, Public Impact Design, which blends human-centered design with systems thinking and reflective practice — three powerful, collaborative frameworks for creating change within systems, organizations, and individuals.
We’ve distilled the most relevant insights from these methodologies and, along with input from our public sector partners, created an engaging training that will provide you with tools to use immediately. Spend three hours with us, and here’s what we’ll do together:
LEARN tools and activities for thinking in systems, so we have a better context of the problem we’re trying to solve
PRACTICE an entire design process – empathize, define, iterate, prototype and test – in a highly interactive 90-minute sprint
APPLY strategies to help us learn from the past, assess our current state, and imagine another future by setting up habits for examining our individual contributions
Who is this training for? Anyone who works closely with the public, including:
- Government Agency Staff
- Nonprofits and Foundation Staff
- Social Entrepreneurs
- Civic Technologists
Can I bring a colleague? Yes! It’s even more fun that way.
We’ll be holding this training at SUPERPUBLIC, a first-of-its-kind Innovation Lab bringing public, private, nonprofit, and academic sectors together to solve urban problems, right in the heart of downtown San Francisco.
