On a bright, sunny Saturday following a rainy San Francisco streak, 15 people gathered for our Participatory Planning Session for 2016. Our intention was two-fold:

  1. Outline our 2016 strategic plan in direct collaboration with members of our community, and
  2. Experiment with stakeholder engagement techniques to improve the collaboration skills of the CivicMakers core team, as well as our community.

Over the course of three hours, we ran the gamut of our dreams for civic innovation, a strategy/culture bicycle exercise, and setting expectations for 2016 on the spectrum from “fail” to “epic.” Needless to say, our community showed up and shined, providing us with so much insight, excitement and love that we’re still glowing.

We are still transcribing and distilling the content of the day, so check back soon for a full report on what we learned together. In the meantime, enjoy some photos from the day. (Sorry, the pan dulce is all gone.)
