Mena Kamel is a design researcher who is passionate about taking a human-centered design approach to solving complex challenges in the public sector. He has experience leading mixed methods research across industries, employing empathy-led approaches to explore the unknowns, articulating perspectives and experiences, and identifying new strategic opportunities that create impactful outcomes, based on real needs.
Mena’s approach to design research is informed by his background in art and graphic design, where he learned the process of prioritizing individual artistic expression and empathy to both highlight and identify key insights. He believes this is best accomplished by utilizing creative inclusive design methodologies, with an emphasis on accessibility, social impact, and collaboration.
Primarily working in the public sector over the last 5 years, his recent project focus has been on program planning and evaluation, capacity building using a human-centered design approach, and minimizing health disparities by addressing social determinants of health impacting underserved populations.
